Wissenschaftsministerin Eva-Maria Holzleitner (SPÖ) hat das Budget für die Universitäten am Sonntag in der ZIB2 verteidigt. Die 16 Milliarden Euro, die sie für 2028 bis 2030 erhalten sollen, seien immerhin mehr, als die Regierung zunächst beschlossen habe. Es gebe damit ein „stabiles Niveau“. Die Finanzierung der Ärztegehälter sei sichergestellt. Die Universitätenkonferenz (uniko) warnte hingegen weiter vor „enorm negativen Folgen“ für Unis, Studierende und Forschende.
