Iets meer dan een jaar geleden werd de christelijk-rechtse activist Charlie Kirk vermoord op een universiteitscampus in Utah. Voor zijn organisatie Turning Point USA zijn de midterm-verkiezingen de eerste grote test sinds die gebeurtenis. Vooral in Arizona bemoeide de club zich enorm met de keuze voor kandidaten – en dat zou wel eens verkeerd kunnen uitpakken.
