Glaubt man den Umfragen, dann werden die US-Demokraten aus den Midterms als Gewinner hervorgehen. Ein Grund dafür ist, dass es einige recht neue Gesichter im Wahlkampf geschafft haben, ein starkes Profil aufzubauen, das auch über die Grenzen der Bundesstaaten hinweg für Aufsehen sorgt – wie James Talarico in Texas und Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan. Die Demokraten setzten zuletzt auch auf ein bewährtes Zugpferd: Ex-Präsident Barack Obama.
