Tragedy struck at Orient Beach in KuGompo City when 65-year-old open-water swimmer Janine Lochrenberg was fatally attacked by a shark. Despite the desperate efforts of fellow swimmers who rushed to assist her, she suffered life-threatening injuries to her arm and thigh, ultimately succumbing to her wounds. In response, local authorities promptly closed the beach and launched an investigation, as reports indicate a slight rise in shark attacks in recent years.
